New Quilt Pattern

Vintage Nest

Lucky me. I was one of three who won a pattern from Cherry Guidry at Cherry Blossoms Quilting Studio after leaving a comment about her lovely quilt during the Perfect Picnic Blog Hop at Sew We Quilt this past June.

This adorable very feminine pattern is even better than I thought it would be and that's why I am sharing some photos with you. BTW, Cherry did not ask me to write, but I did ask her if I could share these pictures.

When I saw the pattern, I thought the four detailed blocks were from a panel. Nope. They are both applique and embroidery--my two most favorite things in the whole quilting world. I've never taken claim to being a great "piecer" and never will.  However, the piecing instructions are clear as a bell so it won't be a problem for me.

First of all the pattern is printed on good photo-quality paper in color, of course. The pages are number and printed on both sides. The applique and embroidery patterns are clearly printed 11" x 17" decent-weight white paper with each pattern piece plainly numbered in placement order. There is one sheet per applique block--half of pieces and the other half is for the layout.

The four applique designs, which can be done using your favorite method, are just plain precious! Her color choices are marvelous and the print on the fainting couch is fitting.

Even though I have yet to decide on fabric, fall colors come to mind. However, with my love of red and black, some of the applique motifs would work well in those colors too.

The finishing directions are good and she has some optional traputo suggestions. Also some finishing touches with hot-fix crystals.

On her blog she has dozens of patterns.

Thank you Cherry! I am a happy camper.

  5. I'm looking forward to see those appliqués. The pattern is gorgeous and the quilt would look very sophisticated in black and red. Do you plan to start stitching soon? Will you do it by hand or with a sewing machine?
