Flamingos

Aren't these adorable? Flamingos are my summer thing. Maybe it's the colors or the idea of a cool ocean breeze here in the desert.





Carol at Just Let Me Quilt is one of the designers for the Sun, Sea and Sand BOM  and here's her adorable pattern contribution. This block is sensational. Ok, I could add a few dish towels and perhaps an apron. Maybe placemats too. Plus, I have all winter to create things with flamingos, Carol's flamingo--she calls him Freddie Flamingo--is here to the right. Don't you love the small bright blocks around the edge?

I must admit altering her pattern for this towel, however not for others. You know, got to do a dry run. Maybe I  need to add more to  my flamingos. The sunglasses rock!


My husband wants me to put baseball caps on them. Baseball is summer.

How about the wine glasses. Totally summer.

Framed Wool Piece

This was a BOM last fall and I didn't want to do the full set of blocks. However, I did want this particular piece to add to fall decorations. It's framed and hanging above the desk in my kitchen. For the past year I had it--unframed--in my sewing room (HERE).

It was made last year and you may have seen the picture HERE. My small quilt group did this one particular block and some of the group completed a quilt.

Can you see the "X" stitches on the basket? Nice touch, eh?

Yes, there's still piecing going on here. So far this month there are four completed quilts for philanthropy. I'm lost without a steady flow of work on my sewing machine as well as in my hands. You too?
