Two-Pocket Zip Bag

In between quilting it is nice to have a second (or third) project going on. So here I am having fun going through my fabric finding just the right piece to make these wonderful and smart bags. Yes, they are small but I can carry my wallet and phone in the back (black) pocket and my keys in the front (novelty fabric). I may change it around because the phone might be best in the front pocket. It is filled and used today for the first time. It works for me.

A friend at the gym had one and it was just what I've been looking for. The strap goes around your neck/shoulder (or just one or the other) for great security when shopping. Yes, now I can use two hands to squeeze the avocados.

Next time I'll be more careful with fabric placement. Hey, I'm learnin'.

This is the first one I made, below, using Road to California fabric I bought in 2004. Yes, I have lots of it in the drawer. Can't remember where the Route 66 fabric came from, and I now agonize over only buying a fat quarter. What was I thinking?

They are even lined inside! I had a hard time getting a picture without my helper.

Now back to the sewing machine where I belong.

  1. Those are really nifty. It looks like you made 2 zipper bags and attached them only where the top zipper was topstitched, right?
