First off, this is unfinished but close to the end--just a few inches of binding. It's a busy week ahead and even though incomplete I wanted to share it while I had a moment. Maybe the binding will be finished in a few days. It's a very narrow single fold bias binding so it seems to require smaller stitches on the back.
When this kit was first shown in the Connecting Threads catalog, it hit my bucket list. The curved edges and the paper pieced wedges probably caught my eye first. However, I thought the colors would be so nice for fall without being too bold. My fabric pumpkins from last year will look great on it. Click HERE to see them.
The fabric was so soft and easy to work with. The center was fussy cut from the floral fabric.
Don't you just love those Clover Clips for binding? For me it seems the thread never gets hooked up on them like it does with pins.
Our only local quilt shop closed last month and I am finding it easier to do online shopping for fabric. Often I find what I need at some of the big name sites, but Etsy always has some good buys too. Seems the shipping is more reasonable at Etsy.
Sometimes I look for specific designers' line. We do get our favorites. Who is your favorite fabric designer?

Marcy the table topper quilt is gorgeous! Love those curves. I have so much fabric that I have acquired over the past 3 decades, that I try and stay away from stores selling fabric (including online), so I don't have a favorite designer, but I do love any batik fabric!
ReplyDeleteCute topper, well done!! I love all fabrics so no specific designer, LOL
ReplyDeleteBeautiful topper! I like the subtle colors and the centre was cleverly done! I went to see your pumpkins and I like them with their check fabric. Using pieces of wood is a good idea too! I think I remember seeing them on Pinterest...
ReplyDeleteAs for a favorite fabric designer, I don't have any. What I can say is that I always fell for red or beige fabric (or both!).
Thank you Marcy for linking this great topper to my Weekend Link Party.
ReplyDeleteLove your curved table topper. I'd like to try that. Also, love the QOV quilt on your previous post. I've been collecting fabrics to make one and I like the design you have chosen. So much to sew and so little time.
ReplyDeleteI love those curved edges! blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteWow!!! This is so beautiful and unusual. I've never seen one with curvy edges like this. I've enjoyed seeing your creations so I'm going to follow you on Bloglovin as soon as I've clicked publish.
